On February 22, 2014, the participants of 5th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition took the battle to the next level as Spain and United Kingdom conquered the stage—well, the skies—of SM Mall of Asia with their colorful and delightful pyrotechnics.
First to perform that night was Spain’s Brunchu Pyro Experience. Spain’s presentation, entitled “Jump“, was dedicated to the victims of Yolanda (Haiyan), the super typhoon that struck and left several coastal towns in the Philippines awash. Brunchu Pyro Experience’s 3D-like fireworks performance aimed at bringing home to every victim, helping them to “jump” as means of moving on from the traumatic calamity.
I myself was left amazed by Spain’s presentation, probably because I was touched by their effort to bring hope to my fellow Filipinos. Another relatable factor is their choice of pop songs, such as Wake Me Up, Roar, Don’t You Worry Child, and Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.
One thing is for sure: Spain’s pyromusical deserved the applause it received from the mesmerized crowd. And Brunchu Pyro Experience is one tough competitor to beat this year!

The 5th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition will run every Saturday from February 15 to March 22, 2014 at 7:00 and 8:00 PM at the Seaside Boulevard, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
